How much in savings warrant an accountant ?
If a person is close to retirement, has an amount of savings to live off, how much in savings makes an accountant a viable option ?

It depends on how financially astute you are and whether you can deal with your tax affiars yourself. You might find the services of a financial advisor more appropriate if you ned help with investments.

You only require an accountant if you need someone to do a Tax Return for you. Otherwise I would suggest a financial adviser, but a good one who has qualifications, not any Tom, Dick, or Harry who fancies the title. You have to be careful, virtually anyone can set up as an adviser. Also, whereas accountants are likely to charge by the hour, financial advisers get paid for the products they sell you, and their advice is not always in your best interests in the case of the cowboys.
