What qualifications do I need to become an accountant?

What qualifications do I need to become an accountant?
Im still in high school, and Im thinking of becoming and accountant. I can take an apprenticeship in accounting in a local college..Would this be enough? ..do I need anything as well/instead of this?

Answer 1 :
I don't think that alone would be enough, but that is a big step in the right direction. If I were back in high school and wanted to be an accountant I would call my college counselor, rather than my high school counselor, asking for a little guidance. If you asked them similarly to how you asked this, you will be happy to have been helped out by them!

can volunteer work in salvation army lead to helping out the accountant?
I am currently studying ACCA and looking for relevant work experience. I have not had any job offers for anything related to account due to lack of experience, so i was wondering can being a volunteer helper in a salvation army (which is just down the road where i live) lead to me helping out with the salvation army accountant? Or at least give me duplicated work which I can check if i've done it right by matching with the accountant.

How much do you think i will earn in the UK as a trainee accountant when i leave uni with an accounting degree
I will be partially qualified as a chartered accountant, i live in Newcastle but will move anywhere for my job if i can earn more. HOw much do you think i will earn in my first post, what about when i am fully qualified. I want to go into tax accounting.

You are very optimistic, that's good as you may not get a job.
Answer 2 :
I live in UK and is a pretty good job I can not tell you how much but it is good enough to buy what you want an need its pretty reasonable!
Answer 3 :
Last year as a Finance Manager with a large insurer I employed a graduate with a 1st class degree in accounting, who like you therefore had some exemptions from professional exams (no one calls a graduate 'part-qualified'). From memory the going rate at that time was about 20-25k in the City (London). I wouldn't say this is necessarily the best you can expect, but the firm were generally known as reasonable payers. Once you qualify... the sky is the limit, your earnings will start to rise very rapidly in line with your ability and experience. You will earn what you deserve.

what is the difference really between an accountant and a book keeper?

what is the difference really between an accountant and a book keeper?
do accountants do basically what a book keeper in business has always done? or when, how branched off this necessary job to the role of an "Accountant"? why accountants make so much money and need so much education? how compare their incomes to others? and are they often making more money than advertisers, etc? why , how again? thanks fo ryour answers!
Financial Services - 1 Answers
People Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
a bookkeeper has taken enough courses to perform the basic, day to day, record keeping. Bookkeeper's work is usually inspected by an accountant or CPA. A 4-year degree in accounting, plus 5 years of working in PUBLIC accounting, Plus taking the State CPA Exam, and passing, makes you a CPA.. Accountants and CPAs get much more involved in a lot of detailed work, than bookkeepers.

How do you become an accountant?

How do you become an accountant?
Im 27 and looking for a new job after working in the millitary. I would like to become an accountant and im willing to take on home studying but would rather not go to uni. Anyone know the best way to get into the industry?

Answer 1 :
Get a degree and take the steps necessary to become a CPA. There are no shortcuts.
Answer 2 :
Do your friends think you are the most boring person on earth? If not, accountancy may not be for you.
Answer 3 :
the best way is to become an accountant is to get a 1st class degree from there you will have companies begging to employ you. But if you havent got such a degree then write to all the top accountancy firms; PWC, KPMG, Delliots etc and asking for jobs. Usually you get replys and inteviews there are ok employment prospects but not brilliant. If all that fails you should get a degree at the open univeristy and repeat the last step.
Answer 4 :
1. Buy a grey Suit 2. Learn to count. More seriously - check out your local college or uni for an open learning course. They are the type you can do at home in your own time. If you have no experience start lower with a diploma course rather than a degree. Once you have the all important bit of paper go job hunting. You will probably be expected to sit your proffessional exams once you are in a position at an accountants, as for example an accounts clerk. Once you have studied for and got them- not easy by the way, then you can be more picky about jobs / salaries. Its not a quick career to get into properly, you might want to think it over.
Answer 5 :
You can go to college either full time or day release and study for your diploma. Then once you get this, probably after 2 years, you will then have to it your professional exams whilst gaining 3 years practical experience. There are no shortcuts here, you must gain three years practical xperience before you can qualify. This is how l did it, got a HND then started the ACCA exams. By the time l qualify it will have taken me 5 years. Good luck p.s i never wanted to go to uni either.
Answer 6 :
Contact CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) enrol as a student get a job in a finance dept of a company and work and study hard and you'll do it if you really want to. Depending on your starting point it will take a few years but CIMA members get the most interesting jobs and are the best paid Chartereds included! Its far from easy but I did so why not you?

what's the difference between an accountant and a chartered accountant?

what's the difference between an accountant and a chartered accountant?
I have an accountant at the moment, he's a chartered accountant. I'm thinking of changing. My accountant is lovely but I just cant take much in that he tells me, it goes in one ear and out the other, nothings simple and straight talking. I have been talking with another guy that really knows his stuff, and talks in my language, I've learnt so much and had some brilliant advice from him, even found out that our business will need to be audited (if thats the right term) and our company will have to pay for it, Ive never heard of an audit before now. Only he's not a chartered accountant, does that make any difference in the world of the tax man? Veritas - you are spot on.... I am very unexperienced with managing a company. We have only been set up 7 months. It is a Limited company, myself and partner have an equal sharehold. Thats why I feel I need to be able to understand my accountant, because I hate feeling vulnerable. The audit thing was because we have almost 5 million turnover within 7 months, so it looks like its a probability we'd have an audit, not sure if thats true, like I said, Ive never heard of audit before. Not sure what it will cost neither. But as for simple things like the tax implications on taking out dividends etc, when I ask my accountant, I cant take in what he says, like you, he uses terms that I cant understand ie oxym something? Thats not even in my queens english dictionary :-) So to refrase my question. Being so new to managing a business, should I go with the accountant that I understand more clearly ? or mine that I dont? but trust him to get me through because he is more qualified.

Answer 1 :
none, both will rip you off
Answer 2 :
about thirty quid an hour
Answer 3 :
if he's not a chartered accountant, for a start, he can't do the audit. Only a CA can sign up for the (additional) ticket needed to do audits. "Chartered" means he met the standards to join his Instution, which means he's a trained professional. Not chartered means you can't rely on him alone, though if you can afford both that might be the best mix. On the other hand your non chartered friend might be a smooth-talking busker, and you might be best getting rid of him. Beware and move SLOWLY in this matter. Charlatans usually reveal themselves over time. All accountants have a problem communicating what they mean to humans. This can be remedied partly by a trip to your local bookshop ("Accounts Demystified" is the one that worked for me) and partly by placing your hand on his forearm while he's holding a pencil, and starting a sentence with the word "Look...". So I vote for keeping your CA but beating him into shape. A non-C A is too big a risk. The tax man (and worse: the VAT man) doesn't care who advises you, but he does care if you break the law. Unfortunately the law is fiendishly complicated. You need a serious professional with you.
Answer 4 :
a chartered accountant has taken additional qualifications, which places them at the top of their profession... which is why you pay more for them...
Answer 5 :
use both of them- use the non chartered for you normal business needs since he knows what he is doing then you take the books that are filled in properly by your accountant to the chartered one for it's final audit since there is less for him to do it will be cheaper for you than using the chartered for everything - in most chartered accountants offices they will charge you the full chartered rate but get an accountant to do tidy up the books before the chartered accountant looks it over but they charge you as if the chartered accountant did all the work
Answer 6 :
I think that you need to be careful, you seem to be very inexperienced. If you are a sole trader, ie, not a Limited Company, then you do not need an annual statutory audit carrying out on your business. Public Limited Companies, do require an Annual Statutory Audit and the majority of non-PLC Limited Companies will require an Annual Audit, but there are exceptions. Lets be clear though, an Audit is not technically the same thing as a firm of Accountants keeping your financial books for you, including perhaps, preparation of annual accounts, 'Tax Return', and 'VAT' returns'. It is not brilliant advice to be told that a business needs an Audit, if that is true in your case. That is very basic. I suspect that the term Audit has been used very loosely, and what is really meant is, assistance with accounting records. Again, any properly qualified accountant, would have known about the Audit requirement without having to find out, as you put it. Remember, Accountants will only do what you engage them to do. Your headline question is an oxymoron and betrays a lack of knowledge on your part. This lack of knowledge could be exploited. A Chartered Accountant, IS an Accountant. Those who are in 'Public Practice' will have been approved by their Professional Body, in this case, the ICAEW to carry out Statutory Audits and other Accounting Services. Moreover, members of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, whose professional body is the ACCA, may also, if aproved by their professional body, act in the same way as the ICAEW. There are two other approved accountancy bodies, but you don't need to concern yourself with them. As far as the Customs & Revenue (tax man) are concerned, they don't particularly care who actualy completes your tax return, because you remain responsible for the accuracy of the figures. It is possible, however, that if a firm of Accountants with a recognised qualification carries out the work, you may be subject to less hassle and enquiry. Because they may feel more confident with their work. As I said before, you sound very inexperienced and easily impressed. How do you know, therefore, that your (other man) knows what he is talking about? You tell us very little about your business, what its legal status is, or what accounting work you want carrying out. Nor do you say what, if any, are the qualifications of your 'other man'. We know he isn't a Chartered Accountant, but we don't know if he is a member of any recognised Accountancy body, and if he is, whether he has been authorised to carry out the work you require. Again, with your current accountant, who is properly qualified, you don't say what it is that you don't understand, do YOU need to understand it, what work is he doing for you? I have just noted that you have used the word -WE- when referring to your business, that means it could be a partnership. The partnership agreement might call for an annual audit. One thing is for sure, your Chartered Accountant will know what he is doing, and you would have recourse to his professional body if he doesn't. Your other man is an unknown, who may simply be exploiting your ignorence.

Can i get an accountant to back date my books?

Can i get an accountant to back date my books?
I've been running a small business for 5 years in the UK and have always done my own books. I've paid a reasonable amount of tax each year and havent hidden anything but i'd like to find out for sure that i'm paying the correct amount. Is it possble for an accountant to go back over 5 years of books with me and correct any mistakes or will they only do it from now onwards? How much would this kind of service cost?
United Kingdom - 3 Answers
People Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
An accountant will do anything you ask them to. They will charge for their time. I don't know what the going rates are but I would guess it would be something like £75 - £300 per hour depending on the experience and skill of the accountant and where you are. If you have all your books, receipts, statements etc filed in good order that will make the job much easier and quicker - IE cheaper. If you have paid a lot of tax and you think you may have overpaid you might find that having an account do this will make you more money than he costs. You can only reclaim tax for the last 6 years, so you need to move quickly if you paid too much at the start.
Answer 2 :
you'd have to talk to a local accountant
Answer 3 :
Just to clarify what SimonC said. Accountants will NOT do anything you ask them to. For example, I will NOT undertake contract killings on a Sunday, and dog walking is absolutely verboten! You don't say what the business is or what records are held, but unless you've made a real cock up, it's unlikely to be a worthwhile exercise as it's going to cost you at least £2000.

Answer 2 :
no you don't have to be an accountant as long as you are employing qualified people. You do have to be careful with the way you present the businesses to potential customers. If you are the owner/figurehead some might ASSUME you are a Certified Public Accountant. You don't want anyone to accuse you of fraud, or your clients to feel cheated.
Answer 3 :
No, but a better command of the English language might help. It's just an idea,
Answer 4 :
Currently, you do not have to be a certified CPA to offer accounting services. BUT.....you should know right now that all of your clients are going to be morons....and if you've ever worked with morons you know all the dum dum things they will do. Your work will really be cut out for you...especially since you are not fully qualified. ...and how do I know they will all be morons? .....because only a moron thinks its a good idea to trust their whole financial well being to somebody who isnt a certiied CPA. My wife is a CPA who runs her own business....I know she would encourage you to follow your ambition with this thing, as it will be greatly fullfilling...but she would also encourage you to get your certification. You will make alot more money too !. Good Luck.
Answer 5 :
It's a good question. I don't think you do. There are two types of qualified accountants, certified and chartered. Normally a "proper" firm of accountants will be registered with the accountancy professional body and the main man will be a chartered accountant. Otherwise anyone can "do someones books" and lodge the self assessment forms with the Inland Revenue. I think the problem may arise when you do audited accounts for a Limited company and make returns to Companies House. I think you would then have to be a qualified accountant (chartered). There are lots of people who do the accounting for small business with no qualifications at all. A good step might be the Accountacy Technicians course (AAT). The other problem might be liability. What happens if you do someones books for a few years, the they have an IR investigation and you are found to have, maybe accidently, given wrong figures?
Answer 6 :
If you are the employer, the buck stops with you. What happens if yoiur qualified accountants mess up, and you get sued? Who is going to insure an unqualified person against professional litigation? As the employer, how would you monitor work of employees if they were qualified, and you weren't? I don't think this is a good idea.

TO become chartered, you will need to complete either the ACCA or ACA courses. This can range from 3 years study (studying full-time) to 5 years typically. For exemptions, please heck their websites however they may be limited unless you have some accounting qualifications as well. (Mathematics is not normally enough although it will help with certain aspects).

I don't think there is a set entry - I've done the first year and I was never asked! I got a job at an Accountants with the training included at college, no one ever asked me what O Levels I had in relation to starting training. You may need to check with your local college that is offering the course they might set entry requirements.
Answer 2 :
There are no minimum requirements to enter in at the first level. You only need minimum requirements if you are looking to get exemptions from some exams (prior relevant work experience or another accounting course).
Answer 3 :
The AAT website at http://www.aat.org.uk/join/display/store4/item51830/ says: What qualifications will I need? There are no formal qualification requirements to do the AAT Accounting Qualification but you will need a reasonable level of numeracy and to be able to complete assessments in English. Above all, your personal qualities are crucial - you will need to be hard-working and committed to proving yourself over a period of time. You are never too old to start your AAT training, and it can greatly improve your options if you want to change career or are returning to work after a break. The course is open to all. What level should I start at? If you already work or have worked in finance/accounting, you might not want to start at the Foundation/Certificate level of our accounting qualification. Your chosen centre could help you decide on the appropriate level for you, and our skillcheck http://www.aatskillcheck.org/ could help you decide

Answer 1 :
If you can handle to make your own tax paperwork, you don't need one. I do it myself. But many of my friends get confused with it and hire an accountant to do it.
Answer 2 :
why would you like to leave a place like Hong Kong to return to the West and the crime here -
Answer 3 :
If you have a house rented out in the UK and it is earning you rental income then there could be an amount of tax that should be paid upon this. If you're paying tax already on the income in Hong Kong then there might be a tax treay in place that either reduces or eliminates any UK tax. Normally, it's easy to fill out UK tax forms but as there's an international element here, it's best to get some professional advice on the issue just to be sure.

My company was victimised by a fraudulent accountant and I am not sure what to do?

My company was victimised by a fraudulent accountant and I am not sure what to do?
He is not a qualified accountant to practice the profession. He used my company and did many dodgy things and started a new accounting firm. I am afraid to complain to Inland Revenue as it may put my company in red. Recently he got some visa problems and leaving this country along with many clients and telling that he can do their accounts from abroad. I don't know his client list to alert them. What should I do and whom should I complain and how can I sort my own accounts? Please help me and guide me.
Small Business - 4 Answers
People Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Report him to the Institute of Chartered Accountants as a start it sounds as if he is acting illegally
Answer 2 :
Did he claim to be qualified when you employed him? If so, then reporting to the body he claimed to be qualified with, or trading standards may be an option. You can't really protect anyone else unless approached for a reference, or until a criminal conviction is obtained - otherwise the local newspapers would be full of such stories of complaint. To sort yourself out, hire a properly qualified accountant. There is a lot of regulation that accountancy firms have to comply with. Either approach an institute directly, or look in the yellow pages for the group adverts under the ACCA or ICAEW banners.
Answer 3 :
Contact your company solicitor and ask for advice. There's no getting around this and you will have to make statements to the IRS and probably the police. If you had truly no knowledge that he was unqualified before working on your accounts, you will be okay but an independent audit will need to be carried out and you will be liable to pay any outstanding taxes. The best thing is to co-operate as fully as you can. If you are asked a question to which you do not know the answer or you do not remember, just say that. Don't make anything up, even to get this guy convicted. It could backfire on you. There are some good accounting packages such as Quicken and Sage that are useful. But you'll probably still need and accountant to give them the 'once over' at the end of the financial year. Best Wishes.
Answer 4 :
How do you know he did 'dodgy' things? What was dodgy about them? Sorting out the mess starts with getting your business information from all taxing authorities and suppliers. They will know what your company owes them and can give you a current statement. As for putting your company in the red - it's best to know sooner than later. contact the Inland Revenue and let them know you are concerned about some of the practices of your previous accountant. Ask for their help, they'd much prefer you have a going concern that earns profits (and therefore gives them tax money) than see you go under.

Are both an accountant and a financial director essential for a small business?

Are both an accountant and a financial director essential for a small business?
Say we have a business, turnover of about £1m per year and net profits of around £300k. The total staff is about 30. The company has an accountant and also a financial director. I am slightly confused for the need for both of these positions. Considering the company is fairly small, why would it need both roles? Surely the accountant could also carry out the responsibilities of the financial director? It would be nice to discuss the possibility of why both of these roles may or may not be necessary. Thanks.
Corporations - 1 Answers
People Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Financial Director decides how the company spends its money - or at least advises the other directors. In a small company, the duties of a financial director would be shared between the other directors, or taken by the Managing Director. An accountant records where the money has gone - this is a specialised job but is often done by an 'outsider' as it does not have any bearing on the company's performance.

Other - Careers & Employment - 2 Answers
People Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
accounts reconcile the accounts and books that a bookkeeper keeps you need to learn about accounts profit and loss and how entries can affect business profits etc
Answer 2 :
All a book keeper does is record your income and expenses and eventual profit/loss in the books by a spreadsheet or a software like Sage for an accountant to look at. They help with the balance sheets too. An accountant calculates the tax you need to pay and ensures you don't pay more tax than you should and they can represent your business for the tax man. They will know tax laws inside and out...bookkeepers don't really unless they are studying to become an accountant. A good accountant saves your business and you a lot of money whereas a bookkeeper just saves you time, most of the time you can do it yourself if your business isn't that complicated.

Accountant.?

Accountant.?
A woman walks into an accountant's office and tells him that she needs to file her taxes. The accountant says, "Before we begin, I'll need to ask a few questions. He gets her name, address, social security number, etc., and then asks... "What is your occupation?" "I'm a whore," she says. The accountant balks and says, "No, no, no, that will never work. That is much too crass. Let's try to rephrase that." The woman says, "OK, I'm a high-end call girl". "No, that is still too crude. Try again." They both think for a minute, then the woman states, "I'm an elite chicken farmer." The accountant asks, "What does chicken farming have to do with being a whore or a call girl?" "Well, I raised over 5,000 little peckers last year!.." alan! check out the pic on my 360...it's gross....

it doesnt really matter what a levels you do it doesnt even matter what degree you do but it helps if youre good at maths and have an interest in business
Answer 2 :
Since you've already made your year 10 and 11 "extra subject" choices, I would have suggested business studies as one of those. However, I would suggest you work hard at your maths GCSE to be good with numbers. Apart from I couldn't really suggest anything else. Accountants generally are professional, so you may think about working at your ICT and English Literature GCSE aswell. Once your at college I would try at an accountant A level and maths A level. Then you've got another 2 choices of A levels to be able to have something to expand your future prospects.

IS there anyway i could open any kind of bank account by tomorrow(wednesday) doesn't have to have DD just a basic account.
Personal Finance - 5 Answers
People Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Go to any bank and open up a checking account. The account will be open immediately. You will receive some blank checks. But your regular checks and debit card, your password will come in the mail on separate days. /
Answer 2 :
Sure - online with ING bank is one such way. Or, just go to a local bank or credit union. They normally open it on the spot for you.
Answer 3 :
Open up an account with cash. Please note that you will have your references checked and you will face unusually long hold times on deposited funds until you have established a track record. The reason for this is described in this article: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2270669/protect_yourself_from_con_artists_and.html?cat=3
Answer 4 :
Online with Bank of America. But you need $25.00 to open the account.
Answer 5 :
Just go into the bank of your choice, tel them you wish to open an account, I think they expect there to be a sum of money to open it.

I believe it was with Equity Law Life. Is there a resource online or elsewhere for finding savings accounts? Thanks for your help, but I live in Britain so I'm afraid your suggestions are not relevant.

Is the company still around? If yes, check with them. If not, then check with the state the savings account was with. It's different for every state, but each state has a department that handles unclaimed or abandoned property for a while.
Answer 2 :
Go to www.unclaimed.org. It has links to all the states unclaimed property. Go to state you lived in when you had the account and should be able to do a search for it. If it is old enough to have been turned over to the state.

How can I get a free minecraft account within an hour?

Well, Since its Beta right now, the price is low. I have friends that use each others accounts. If you have a friend whose willing to let you use theirs, ask them. I do that with my friends. Hope this helps!
Answer 2 :
You are NOT going to like hearing this, but you need to. Just buy the game! Notch works hard to keep the game up and running. You have loads of rights to the game for just 20 bucks! It's not FREE, but it's definitely worth it. Trust me.
Answer 3 :
Without earning it in someway such as by doing surveys (though I don't recommend them) there very little else you can do legally with the only other free way I can think of is being gifted a copy.
Answer 4 :
Hey, I got mine instantly from doing one survey at www.minecraftcracked.com Let me know how you find it.
Answer 5 :
well, the thing is why would you want a free version? The paid is much better! for just 20 dollars, you get all these cool features. You also help Notch by supporting Mojang. I played with a pirated version for like 3 days, then bought the game. TRUST ME. now if you are a hobo, have evil parents, or are just an overall cheap person, heres what I recommend. Do not complete surveys. They are viruses. Play on a friends account. I'm sure someone will allow you to.

What are divorce rights for joint savings account?

What are divorce rights for joint savings account?
If your married and open a joint savings account but then you divorce, how is the money shared? 50-50 basis? Or what you put in you get out? How does it work?
Marriage & Divorce - 14 Answers
People Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Everything's worked out all together, your lawyer should be able to tell you
Answer 2 :
Consult your attorney. It will be factored into any split of assets. Unless you two agree to split it some way.
Answer 3 :
joint bank account and marriage? are you joking? did you want to end up on the streets or what? you are in a mess babe.
Answer 4 :
50-50 of the money but the other person could get the money out and keep it in cash before the divorce that way the money cannot be traced to any account
Answer 5 :
Its not what you put into it, because then the stay at home moms would be screwed. Its divided fairly and equally.
Answer 6 :
It depends. what is the reason for divorce? then you can stand your ground from there. is there any children involved. it should be a normal 50/50 if everything is straight forward. but if this account was set up before the marriage then who ever opened it will get the funds before the marriage date and the rest will be shared 50/50 depending on the grounds of divorce?
Answer 7 :
Yes 50/50 unless otherwise you or your estranged spouse decide differently. make sure to have the account frozen and start a new account.
Answer 8 :
All bank accounts are considered marital assets and are split 50/50. Unfortunately if you were the saver in your family you are going to loose on the deal and your soon to be former spouse will benefit from your good habits. Generally speaking you split was was earned or received by either during the marriage 50/50 including pensions and other retirement benefits. There is an exception for inheritance that people sometimes overlook. If you inherit cash or property it is not split.
Answer 9 :
First one to clean the money out gets it .Then you can pay to fight it in court. Even if you win the case you most likely won't see much of the money if any at all.
Answer 10 :
Either of you can withdraw the whole lot at any time as it is a joint account. Then you would need a solicitor to recover it, then probably 50%, if she/he earns more then it is more complicated . Two years worth of statements and all accounts single and joint will be taken into account, under the UK system. Check your regional laws to confirm for your state wherever you are.
Answer 11 :
All assets are divided 50/50. I would protect that money though and have the account frozen just in case your spouse decides to clean out the bank account.
Answer 12 :
The reality of divorce with a joint account..one party will empty the account out and leave the other party nothing..legally that can be done since it is in both of your names..bitterness and anger does that to people..be cautious..
Answer 13 :
50/ 50 sorry to say.
Answer 14 :
Normally 50/50. However if you are married and plan on getting a divorce, talk to your spouse and agree everything and anything BEFORE seeing a solicitor and going to court, otherwise the court will decide, not you...........and of course if it is joint you can do what my ex did and empty every joint account for himself!

How do I transfer my own funds to my Paypal account?

How do I transfer my own funds to my Paypal account?
When I try adding money from my bank account to my Paypal account (i need to pay my Ebay fees) it won't let me, it keeps thinking it's coming from someone else! How do I do this? Thanks.
Personal Finance - 5 Answers
People Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Have you tried this method: My Ebay Account Seller Account On the bottom there are 2 options: "automatic payment method" or "one-time payment".
Answer 2 :
You need to enter your bank details and paypal automatically collects the money from your bank to pay who or what ever. You may need to verify your account. you can do this by going into your paypal account details. Hope this helps :-)
Answer 3 :
when you set up PAYPAL account, link checking (or savings) account to PAYPAL account and after they process as identified, you can transfer directly to your PAYPAL from checking or savings from the PAYPAL website.
Answer 4 :
There should be no need to transfer money to PayPal. They should automatically take payment from whatever default payment method you configure (typically a checking account). If you buy something, you can select which of your payment methods you set up with PayPal at time of checkout. But if you manually transfer money to PayPal from a credit card, that would likely be considered a cash advance. The only time your PayPal account would normally show a balance other than zero is if you sell something or get some other credit.
Answer 5 :
How ebay comes in? transfer the amount from your bank account to paypal. that's it. I don't know why you are talking about Ebay.

Answer 1 :
Basically it is just where a third party (anyone that did not prepare the accounts in the first place but usually an accountancy firm) looks at the books at (say) year end and checks them to verify that there have been no errors or illegal transactions.
Answer 2 :
It is usually an unbiased review of a company's financial statements to check that the financial statements have been properly prepared, and normally performed by a firm of accountants. The result of the audit is communicated in written form and contains the opinion of the person or firm that carried out the audit.
Answer 3 :
Please be advised that an audit can be a multitude of things. There are Internal Auditors, External Auditors: There are Governmental Auditors. An Audit is an examination of financial records (internal) & (external).

Is it a good idea to dress smart to see an accountant?

Is it a good idea to dress smart to see an accountant?
I have caved in and decided to get an accountant to help me sort out my business. Should I dress a bit smart or just go as I am so Im not pretending to be anything Im not?
Careers & Employment - 10 Answers
People Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
dressing smart..always gives a good impression. but hes only there to do a job for you..so in a way..your one of his employers..
Answer 2 :
yes ,smart but dont go overboard..........
Answer 3 :
I went to see my accountant in blue camo bottoms, skateboard shoes, and clean pastel blue casual shirt.... sort of clothes I often wear. Just paid off last £300 invoice to accountants to clear the work they did for me. I'm not setting myself up to be overly charged by looking like Mr.Rich. In my experience many professionals try and draw things out and milk the fees. Just tell them what you need, and don't be afraid to discuss their hourly rate or give an estimate to the work they feel would be involved. Preferably, if they accept you as a client.. they would send you a letter setting out the costs they anticipate for your file/case.
Answer 4 :
your don't necessarily have to dress "smart" just don't dress trashy. you do want to make a good impression.
Answer 5 :
it's their job to do your taxes correctly no matter how you look.
Answer 6 :
Go in what you feel comfy in my dads an accountant and his clients are all varied but he treats them just the same..
Answer 7 :
your not seeing the queen at Buck House
Answer 8 :
I don't remember where I read this, but Coco Chanel said once, 'Dress shabbily and they remember the dress, dress impeccably and they remember the woman.' You can be presentable without pretending to be someone/thing you're not.
Answer 9 :
You are not trying to impress him are you? However, it is only polite to dress in a clean and tidy manner rather than scruffy trainers, jeans etc. In order to earn respect, one has to give it and dressing like a labourer off a building site is not the way to go about it. Always dress to suit the occasion, whatever it may be. When you think of it, he presumably, will wear a suit out of respect for you and to demonstrate his professionalism, and you should offer him the same courtesy.
Answer 10 :
You're paying the bill - dress in what you like! We have a small haulage company and my husband drives a truck, so sometimes we're off to see the accountant as he's arrived back from a long journey. Our accountant is therefore used to seeing him in grubby jeans and a shirt covered in oil and grease - it doesn't worry her - she just accepts its part and parcel of going out to earn a living. Just be yourself! Ask around though for a recommendation before deciding on who to use.
