How much does an accountant charge per day roughly?
I am doing some accounts and consultancy work for a company in a sector I have very strong experience and background in. What is a realistic figure I should be charging per day?

Can you see what other accountants have been charging them before? I'm an accountant but not in the UK so my rates are very different from yours.

Generally speaking, a consultant charges by the hour or by the job, not by the day. That said, most public accountants bill out their time for $100 + per hour, even higher for more experienced professionals. Whatever you decide on, make sure that you have a written contract with the company you're consulting for, explicitly outlining what job you are being hired to do and what the end product will be. Also, there should be some sort of contingency clause that allows you to exit the job if you can't complete it, and another contingency clause that allows you to make changes to the contract (with client approval) if the scope of the engagement changes during the project. Don't ever underestimate the legal repercussions of entering into a contract with someone. Maybe you could go to Nolo.com for some legal forms. Good luck!
